Idalia “Yaya” G. Benavidez, born on January 19, 1931 in El Ranchito, Texas, died on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at her residence in El Calaboz, Texas surrounded by family. She was 84 years old. She was a devoted member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and member of The Guadalupanas.
Her husband, Jose Guadalupe Benavidez; son, Ricardo Benavidez; granddaughter, Judith Benavidez; son, Jose Benavidez Jr.; parents, Leobardo and Dolores Garza; and several brothers and sister, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children Maria Herlinda (Romeo) Belmares; Criselda (Jesus) Borjas, Armando (Noemi) Benavidez, Alma (Noe) Herrera, Marvelia (Ramon) Hernandez, Dolores (Jose) Ocañas and Jesus (Alicia) Benavidez; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; brother Eliberto Garza; three sisters Estela Rodriguez, Alicia Garza and Lupita Leal.
Visiting hours are on Friday, October 2, 2015 beginning at three o’clock in the afternoon and concluding at nine o’clock at night, with a recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o’clock Friday evening within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel, 1400 West Highway 77, San Benito, Texas 78586.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at ten o’clock in the morning, in St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 24380 U.S. Highway 281, El Ranchito, Texas 78586. Honored to be her pallbearers, Romeo Belmares, Noe Herrera, Jesus Borjas, Ramon Hernandez, Jose Ocanas, Adrian Benavidez
Committal services will then follow at El Calaboz Cemetery.
