Harlingen:
Larry Engstrom, 71, passed away on June 9, 2014 in Harlingen, TX.
Larry was born April 12, 1943 in Beaumont, Texas to Howard and Teresa (McKenzie) Engstrom. He graduated from Oklahoma State University and received a Master’s Degree from the University of Minnesota. Larry served in the Peace Corps in Malaysia. After college he worked for an agency for International Development in Vietnam, then as an independent investment advisor in Washington, D.C. and was the owner-operator of River Valley Orchids in Harlingen, TX. He was a member of the Elks Club and the First United Methodist Church.
Larry is survived by his sister, Dwyce Ratliff and her husband Mickey of Austin, TX; nephew, Derek Ratliff and his wife Janet of Cooperstown, NY; niece, Laurie Ratliff Swanson and her husband David of Austin, TX; great nephew, Steve Ratliff; and great nieces, Kristin Ratliff, Julie Ratliff and Scout Swanson. He is also survived by many cousins and many friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 710 Ed Carey Dr. Harlingen, TX.
Burial will be held at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
