Born August 11, 1941. Howard went to his eternal resting place on September 21, 2023, peacefully at home while on hospice care for extensive medical complications.
He is the beloved son of Elmer (Slim) Buchanan Sr. and Lou Emma (Brenton) Buchanan, who preceded him in passing. Siblings, all who preceded him in passing, include Mildred (Mickey) Havens, Elmer (Buck) Jr., Brenton Buchanan, Franklin (Frank) Buchanan, William (Billy Gene) Buchanan, Jimmy Buchanan, Ray Dean Buchanan, Mary Lou Wright.
Howard married Donna Stoops on March 12, 1963 and celebrated having three children whom he loved Ricky (Jackie) Buchanan of Marseilles, Melinda (Steve) Buchanan who preceded him in death and Rebecca (Terry) Linnig of Scottsdale Arizona. Later, Howard married Carolyn (Manahan) Borys on December 13, 1975 and had three additional children through marriage, Connie, Micheal (Mick) and Teddy. After Carolyn passed away, he later married Elena Cinskiene on September 26, 2012, whom he shared his life with and loved until the end. Howard had a total of 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is loved and appreciated by several nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Howard was an electrician by trade and a proud member of the IBEW local # 176 in which he retired from in 2001. He loved his country dearly and celebrated his family often. He was known for his sense of humor, playing cards, generosity and fun-loving attitude. Howard professed to be a Christian and looked forward to joining his loved ones in Heaven.
A memorial service will take place on October 11, 2023 at 11 a.m. is generously being provided by Marseilles Church of the Nazarene located at 1292 Morris Rd. Marseilles, IL 61341 (815) 795-4896 – officiated by Pastor Clark. A lunch for the family will be provided following the service at 12 pm. A graveside memorial service at Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan, Colorado will be scheduled at a later date.
