Homer Galvan, age 75, peacefully passed away on March 25, 2025, in Harlingen, Texas.
He was born on July 18, 1949, in San Benito, Texas, to Hilario Galvan Jr. and Margarita M. Galvan.
Homer was a proud graduate of San Benito High School, Class of 1968. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of Corporal.
He retired from the Southwest Research Center in San Antonio, Texas. In his free time, Homer enjoyed motorcycles, fishing, and hunting.
Homer was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his mother, Margarita M. Galvan; his children, Steven, Jason, and Christopher (Denise); his grandchildren, Liam, Penelope, Giselle, and Zayden; his sisters, Diane Galvan and Velma Galvan Perez (Joe); and his brother, Rene Galvan (Pam).
The Galvan family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock Wednesday evening. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas.
Jason Galvan, Christopher Galvan, Liam Galvan, Andy Contreras, Ayden Contreras, and Rene Galvan are honored to serve as pallbearers.
