Hilario Galvan Jr.

Hilario Galvan Jr., 96, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2024 in San Benito, Texas.  He was born to the late Hilario Galvan Sr. and Gregoria Garcia Galvan on January 22, 1928 in Port Isabel, Texas.

Hilario was employed as a Chief Maintenance Supervisor for Dolly Vinsant Hospital and retired after 36 years of dedicated service.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hilario and Gregoria Galvan; his brothers, Jose, Domingo, David, Edubiges, Natividad, Gregorio, Tomas; and his sisters, Ernestina Salinas and Elvira Munoz.

Left to treasure Hilario’s memory is his wife of 75 years, Margarita Martinez Galvan; his children, Homer Galvan, Diana Galvan, Rene Galvan (Pam), Velma Perez (Joe); his grandchildren, Steven, Jason, and Christopher Galvan (Denise), Kimberly and Angie Galvan, Krystal Perez Contreras (Andy) and Mark Perez (Victoria); 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and his last surviving sister, Aurora “Natalia” Galvan De La Cruz.

The family would like to thank the medical staff with DHR Health and Hospice; Olga Jimenez, who watched over him in his last week of life; and a special nephew, Gregorio Galvan Jr., who sat with him every day in his last month of life.

The Galvan family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, February 25, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock Sunday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church.  Following the Mass, Hilario will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Mark Perez, Ayden Contreras, Andy Contreras, Christopher Galvan, Jason Galvan, and Liam Galvan.
