Hermenejildo G. Zuniga, Jr. passed away on February 5, 2020 at the age of 79. He was born in Lozano, Texas on January 19, 1941 to Hermenejildo and Perfecta Zuniga.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Raquel Zuniga, his baby son, Rene Zuniga and his parents Hermenejildo and Perfecta Zuniga. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Manuel, Reynaldo, Sylvestre, Jose, and Donicio Zuniga and sisters, Isabel Rincones, Cruz Saldivar, Maria Zuniga, and Celia Odell.
Hermenejildo is survived by his children, Ofelia (Edward) Ruiz and Laura (Tony) Gonzales. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tracy (Mario) Del Bosque, Robert (Victoria) Martinez, Daniel Ruiz, Antonio (Lia) Gonzales, Jr., Marina (Nick) Garcia and Veronica Ruiz and great grandchildren Julie and Ethan Del Bosque, Evan and Sammy Martinez, Jared Limon, Kimberly and Jacob Gonzales, Angelina, Nicolas and Rebekah Garcia. His sisters, Yolanda Lopez, Eloisa Haney and Guadalupe Orta.
Hermenejildo retired from Mont Meta Memorial Park. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, family BBQ’s, and horse races. He loved nature and his animals and he was an avid horse lover.
The family would like to give special thanks to their loving niece, Amanda Mendoza, friends, Carolina and Sally, the Rio Hondo Medicine staff and Cheryl Dodson, P.A.
Visitation will be at San Benito Funeral Home on Friday, February 7, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will commence on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helens Catholic Church located in Rio Hondo. Interment will then follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
Pallbearers will be Edward Ruiz, Antonio Gonzales, Mario Del Bosque, Robert Martinez, Daniel Ruiz and Antonio Gonzales, Jr. Honorary pallbearers, Nick Garcia, Ethan Del Bosque, Evan Martinez, and Jared Limon.
