Mr. Hector B. Sandoval was born on October 18, 1940, in Mexico to a Spaniard named Juan Sandoval and to a Tejana named Magdalena Buenrostro. He lived a full 84 years and passed away early Monday morning while sleeping at home in El Calaboz, Texas.
Mr. Sandoval spent his adult life working hard to provide for his family, retiring after working over 20 years with the SBCISD Maintenance Department. Prior to his employment with the school district, he was a farmer along the banks of the Rio Grande River. In his youth, he even dabbled in welding while raising his young family in Houston/Dallas area.
Hector was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was truly one of the few of the very best. There was absolutely nothing that he would not do for his family. His love was always felt, for he worried for them and told them that he loved them, up until his last 24 hours.
As Mr. Sandoval was a devoted believer in God—and a life-long devotee to his beloved La Virgen de San Juan—his family finds solace that he went in peace with the help of his strong faith rooted in the Catholic religion.
His presence will most certainly be felt and missed in his family’s daily life. Mr. Sandoval leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Dora Rodriguez Sandoval, along with their four children: Juan Jose (Cynthia) Sandoval, Hector (Ma. Concepcion) Sandoval, Jr, Ramon (Evangelina) Sandoval, and Patricia (David W.) Sandoval-Hernandez. Left to continue to carry on his legacy of love and dedication to family are his 10 grandchildren & 19 great-grandchildren.
The Sandoval Family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the following entities for their support in the care of Mr. Sandoval during his final months: Area Agency on Aging-Respite Care (Harlingen), Stay Healthy Home Care-Provider Services (San Benito), Mount Sinai Hospice (Harlingen), and SBMA (San Benito).

A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 o’clock Wednesday evening. A funeral liturgy will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Honored to serve as his pallbearers are David W. Hernandez, Ramon Sandoval Jr, John Bryan Sandoval, Brandon Sandoval, Hector Federico Sandoval, and Nicholas Sandoval Garza.
