Hazel Mae (Warner) Haynes, born on July 19, 1938, in Combes, Texas, peacefully passed away on May 11, 2024.
After her graduation from Harlingen High School in 1956, she embarked on a beautiful journey with the love of her life, Melvin Bart Haynes, whom she cherished for 62 years until his passing in 2019. While she dedicated herself to homemaking which she held in high regard, Hazel also undertook the role of managing the Windmill Lane Mobile Home Park subsequent to her retirement from the State of Texas MHMR.
A devout Christian, Hazel exemplified her faith through lifelong volunteering within various church ministries and roles. Her dedication extended to serving as an administrative aid and bookkeeper at the gift shop of Valley Baptist Hospital.
Hazel and Bart shared a passion for travel, exploring numerous states in their camper and enjoying adventures with friends and family across the country. In addition to her love for quilting, sewing, home decor, and culinary arts, she took pleasure in imparting these talents to her daughter and granddaughter. Hazel found joy in assembling jigsaw puzzles, often engaging with her grandchild and great-grandchild in this shared pastime.
Hazel is survived by her brothers James Albert (Janis), Tony (Antonia), and Wayne Warner; granddaughter Bethany (Rusty) Whitaker; great-granddaughter Taylor Whitaker; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bart Haynes, parents Albert Cecil and Novell Warner, brother Aubie L. Warner, and daughter Lynda Ann Nott.
The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A memorial service honoring Hazel's life will begin at 11:00 o’clock Saturday morning.
In lieu of floral tributes, the family kindly requests contributions to be directed to Calvary Baptist Church of Harlingen, Texas; Alzheimer's Research; or a charitable cause of personal significance.
