Harrold D. Weldon, 82, with his family by his side, passed on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
Harrold was born in Pear Valley, Texas on January 5, 1926 to Quince and Myrtle Weldon.  He was the oldest of eight children.
At the age of 17, Harrold joined the Navy and served during World War II in the Pacific Theater.  He moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 1967 and started Weldon Construction Company in 1968.  He retired in 1991. In 1992 he was made an honorary lifetime member of the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America.  Following his love for construction he later worked for Wrightway Construction Company and then for Rhyner Construction Services.  Any spare time he had was spent maintaining All Saints Episcopal Church in San Benito.
Harrold was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, his brothers Billy and Donald Weldon, his sisters Edith Harris, Gay Thibadeaux and Nell Owens, his son Timothy Weldon and his late wife Mona.
Harrold is survived by his wife Alison, sons Richard Weldon (Susan), Perry Vaughn (Deborah), Bobby Vaughn, Gavin Hyde and Rev. John R. Fisher (Sharon), daughters Debbie Conrad (Lloyd) and Janelle Virnig (Craig), sister Ruth Hansen, brother-in-law Joe Thibadeaux, grandchildren Tim Weldon (Ashley), Zak Vaughn, Jason Virnig, Christine Virnig, Terran Hyde, Tami Hargett, Rhonda Hedges (David), John Fisher (Pam) and Lynette Frazier (Troy), four great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and his favorite cat, Cash.
A memorial service to celebrate Harrold’s life will be held at the All Saints Episcopal Church in San Benito, Texas on Wednesday, December 17th at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to All Saints Episcopal Church, 465 N. Reagan Street, San Benito, Texas 78586.
