Harold Lee Teel

January 9, 1934 — June 27, 2013

Harold Lee (Scoot) Teel
Harold or Scoot as most knew him was born in Teller, OK, January 9, 1934 and went to meet the Lord on June 27, 2013 in Harlingen, TX.
He was preceded in death by his Father; Lonnie Lacy Teel, Mother; Stella August Teel and Grandson; John Trenton Teel.
He is survived by his wife; Anne Teel, Children; Connie Teel, Harlingen, TX; Lonnie and Rose Ann Teel, Anthony, KS; John (Billy) Teel, Harper, KS; Grandchildren; Tasha and Jessie Higer, Coleman and Cassie Teel, Chance and Carrie Teel, Cooper Teel and Conlee Teel; Great grandchildren; Sophia Higer, Cameron Higer and Trenton Hunter Teel.
In 1997, after 37 years of working for Cities Service Oil and Gas, Scoot retired and he and Anne hit the road to visit family and friends in the summer and spend the winter in the warmth of Harlingen, TX. Harlingen became their permanent home in 2002 where they enjoyed square dancing and traveling with friends.
Scoot was a family man whose life was centered in Christ. He was a founding member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Drummond, OK and it was very important to him that he share his love for Christ with his family and friends. Family gatherings were always special to him and you never left hungry and they were filled with lots of fun and laughter. As his family grew, he and Anne traveled many miles to spend time and spoil their grand and great grandchildren.
The woods of southern Oklahoma were home to Scoot in his youth and out of his childhood, a passion for hunting, fishing and spending time in the outdoors were passed down to his children and grandchildren. For over 40 straight years, Scoot, childhood friends, sons and grandsons spent Labor Day weekend fishing and dove hunting on Blue River where he grew up. It was an honor to be invited or finally become old enough to attend the annual event.
Scoot loved to laugh and was ornery to the core; a man who loved practical jokes and loved it when you were able to finally get one over on him. He was not above putting a couple of Bullfrogs in a friend’s lunch pail for him to take home unknowingly and there are still arguments on how loud the friend’s wife screamed when she opened the lunch pail.
Harold Lee (Scoot) Teel was a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be missed and will always be remembered with love and admiration.
A memorial gathering will be held Monday, July 1, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Dance Hall at Park Place Estates, 5401 U.S. Bus. 83, Harlingen, TX 78552, (956) 428-4414.
