A gentle giant of a man, he will be greatly missed.  He is survived by his wife, Betty Tapp Miller of Harlingen; sister, Lorraine Howard of Puyallup, WA; sister-in-law, Jean Parrott-Maun of The Woodlands; step-son, Andrew (Dianne) Miller of Phoenix, AZ, step-daughters, Jeannie (Mike) Pemberton of Longview,  Dorothy Eacho of Harlingen, Patsy (Dave) Darnell of Canton and Georgia (Jim) Botts of Port Isabel; six step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.
After graduating from High School in Puyallup, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served as a Tech 5 in Battery C 7534D AAA Gun Battalion in the Philippines and Japan.  His citations were Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and Army of Occupation – Japan.
Returning home, he graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle, majoring in electrical engineering.  He started his career as a Machinist Journeyman at the Port of Bremerton, WA and worked his way to Ship Superintendent for Lockheed.
In 1970, Marathon Letourneau (later known as Keppel-Amfels) hired him to come to the Port of Brownsville, where off-shore oil rigs were being built.  As Superintendent of the Machinists Division and the Maintenance Division, he was affectionately known as “The Buffalo”.  He retired after 17 years of service.
Harold was a member of First United Methodist Church of Harlingen and the San Benito Elks Lodge NO. 1661. It is suggested the First United Methodist Church be remembered for anyone wishing to give a memorial in his name.
Special thanks to Dr. Shenkenberg and his staff, also the staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center for their special care and effort.
