Harold F. Gray

HARLINGEN, TX
Harold Gray, 75, passed away August 1, 2015 at his residence in Harlingen.  He was born on November 29, 1939 in Harlingen, Texas. A lifelong farmer, Harold was a member of the Tip o Tex Trail Ride, Harlingen Elks Lodge and the National Rifle Association. He also served on boards for the Harlingen Irrigation District, Producers Gin Association, and the Port Regional Gin Association. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Harold never turned away from opportunities to hunt or to tell tall tales about it. Whether in Colorado, Africa, or South Texas, he relished the time spent in the outdoors with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, William J . (Bill) Gray; mother, Kizzie Curry Gray; wife, Cheryl Card Gray; sister, Billie J. Gray; and brother–in-law, Melvin Eilers.
He is survived by daughter, Martie Ann (Kelly) Gray of Austin,Texas; sisters, Betty Eilers of Kingsbury, Texas and Rosemary (Charles) Strong of Harlingen; nephews, Carl Eilers of Kingsbury, Texas and Joe David Kilbourn of Raymondville, Texas; nieces Cindy Stephens of New Braunsfels, Texas and Tammy McCants of Comfort, Texas; and numerous cousins and extended family.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center; Dr. Bruce Liebert; caregivers Isabel Diaz, Paula Flores, Phillipe Camargo, Angie Morado and Penny Arnijo; CIMA Hospice; and friend Sandy Claus Wienen.
A memorial visitation will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 3-5 p.m.
