Harold G. Carstensen MD

March 18, 1925 — February 20, 2013

San Benito, TX - Harold G. Carstensen, M.D., loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on February 20, 2013.

The son of the late Hans and Mary (Balintfy) Carstensen was born March 18, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY. “Hal” graduated from Bethany College and the University of Chicago Medical School.  He served as a Lt. Colonel in the US Army for 8 years during the Korean War.
Hal was a physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology for 47 years. He and his wife Linda made Harlingen their home in 1975.

He is survived by his wife Linda, his children, Todd (Phyllis), Scott, Tara and Kira Carstensen, and Lisa (Charles) Cherrington; his grandchildren, Courtney, Eric, Kalie, Meagan, Tracie, Jon, Dan, Carsten, Chase and Caden; and his great-grandchildren,  David, Rebekah, Sydney, and Sarah; he is also survived by his siblings, Dr. Mildred Allred Zomkowski, Lenore Mortemore and Dian Kunde.

He was preceded in death by his son, Tass Carstensen; his daughter, Kimberly Jensen; and brothers, Dr. Albert, Walter and John Carstensen.

After his retirement, Hal found joy with his beloved pets, Mitzi, Belle and Snowy.
Per his wishes, a memorial service will be held for family only.
In lieu of flowers, Hal requested donations to be made to The Humane Society, or simply, to do a good deed for another.
