Guadalupe R. "Memo" Ramirez

October 26, 1922 — March 12, 2024

San Benito, Texas

Guadalupe (Lupita) R. “Memo” Ramirez, 101, peacefully passed away in her home surrounded by her children and loved ones on March 12, 2024 in San Benito, Texas.  She was born to the late Emilio L. and Aurora B. Rodriguez on October 26, 1922 in San Benito, Texas.

Lupita was a faithful member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.  In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing baseball in her youth for team Coca Cola in a girl’s baseball league.  She loved playing her piano, cooking, putting puzzles together, playing Phase10, Conqián, poker, card games, and had a great admiration for the Beatles music-especially Paul McCartney. She also impacted many lives and weddings by cooking her legendary empanadas, pan de polvo and lady fingers. She had a love for raising her children and babysitting her grandchildren and numerous children that she cared for and loved dearly.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life and husband, Juan Vidal Ramirez Sr; her infant son, Juan V. Ramirez Jr.; her granddaughter Melissa Ann Hernandez; her parents Emilio and Aurora Rodriguez; her brothers, Emilio L., Alfonso, Abel and Armando Rodriguez; and her sisters Delia Trevino and Aurora Bartlett.

Left to treasure Lupita’s memory are her children, Aurora Angela Garza (Hector Jr.†, U.S. Marine Corp), Oralia Hernandez (Former Mayor Joe, Sr.), Anna Celina Rodriguez (Ray), Nora Belinda Garcia (Jesus), Carlos Ramirez (Thelma), Gloria San Juana Perez (James), and Juan Vidal Ramirez, Jr. (Maricela); her 21 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Bee First Hospice and her nurses, Rick, Anna and Billie.  Special thanks to her awesome providers Elvia Lopez, Maria Lerma, and Lupita Lerma. Thank you for the loving and special care you gave our precious Mother.

The Ramirez family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock Sunday evening.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 18, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church.  Following the Mass, Lupita will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Garza III, Joe Hernandez Jr., Raynaldo Rodriguez Jr., Judge Chuy Garcia, Aaron Vidal Ramirez, James John Perez II, and Grace Yan Jie Ramirez.  Honorary pallbearers are sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, Hector D.
