Guadalupe (Sánchez) Martínez

With her loving husband and family by her side, Guadalupe Sanchez Martinez peacefully passed from this life the evening of August 5, 2021 at her home in La Paloma, Texas.  She was born to the late Guadalupe Sanchez and Higinia Capetillo Sánchez on August 16, 1948 in Robstown, Texas.

Guadalupe was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was a wonderful homemaker who loved cooking for her family.  She was also a very talented seamstress who sewed for family and friends.  Her family will always treasure the quilts that she loving made for them.  In her leisure time, Guadalupe enjoyed playing bingo, trying her luck at scratch-off tickets, and completing crossword puzzles.  She was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in La Paloma.

Guadalupe’s family wishes to express their special thanks to her daughters, Velma and Valerie, for their continuous, loving care during her most difficult times.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Higinia C. Sánchez, and a son, Jesús Martínez.

Left to treasure Guadalupe’s memory is her husband, Alejandro Bejaran Martínez; her children, Velma (Ramiro) Garcia, Alejandro Martínez Jr., Alcario Martínez, Alejos (Juanita) Martínez, Adán Martínez, Abel (Cecilia) Martínez, Velinda Martínez, and Valerie Martínez.

The Martínez family will receive relatives and friends at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock on Tuesday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 22101 Farmer Avenue, La Paloma TX.  Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Alejandro Martínez, Jr., Alcario Martínez, Alejos Martínez, Adán Martínez, Abel Martínez, Jorge Luis Cantú Jr., Mark Anthony Cantú, and Marcelino Morales Jr.  Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Abel Martínez Jr.
