San Benito, TX: Guadalupe “Lupita” De Leon, 87, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 21, 2011. Lupita was born in San Benito, TX on March 29, 1924.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, David R. De Leon; and her siblings, Pedro, Moises, Celestino, Juanita Canales, Margarita Flores, and Celedonia Mancias.
Lupita is survived by her daughter, Diana (Lupe) Solis; her 4 sons, Arnoldo (Mary) De Leon, Joe (Sarita) De Leon, Johnny (Linda) De Leon, and David (Yolanda) De Leon; along with 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
She was known as the heart of the family – everything she did, she did for her family for whom she loved so deeply; her faith in the Lord brought us all together to share in her love of God.
We could always find her full of laughter and good cheer – ready to embrace us in one of her many hugs and kisses. We will remember her delicious cooking skills, especially her famous “charro” beans; she was also a savvy card player, who never failed to bring us together every weekend for our family game night.
She gave us all such courage and hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. Lupita touched the lives of her family and many people with her smile and generosity and maintained her trademark sense of humor to the very end.
Our Lupita was so full of life, a giver without question, a best friend and confidant, never judgmental and always quick to forgive. She is and will always remain the rock of the De Leon Family.
She will be greatly missed by all but remains in our hearts always as we will forever keep her memory alive.
Now you my soar with wings of angels and walk the streets of gold that you always dreamed of. Goodnight and rest well Wela Pita, we will see you again someday.
