Grace "Chela" Vallado

Grace “Chela” Vallado, 86, of Los Fresnos, TX, passed away at her home on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Grace was born to the late Gustavo and Bruna Suarez Munoz on September 6, 1931 in Del Rio, TX.

Grace grew up in Corpus Christi, TX where she met and fell in love with Andres Nicolas (A.N.) “Nick” Vallado.  They were married on August 14, 1958 at Primera Iglesia Bautista of Corpus Christi where they remained active church members until moving to Los Fresnos, TX in 1976.  Upon moving to Los Fresnos, Grace and her family joined the First Baptist Church where they remained faithful members for many years.  In 2010, she and her husband became charter members of Olmito Community Church where she remained a member until her death.

Grace enjoyed entertaining guests in her home and loved visiting nursing home residents.

Left to treasure her memory is her husband of nearly sixty years, Dr. A. N. Vallado; children, Nora (Manny) Arredondo, David (Crystal) Vallado; grandchildren, Nicolas Arredondo, Grace (Justin) Muraida, Damian Cabrera, Zoe Cabrera; sister, Rose Starnes.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Gustavo and Bruna Munoz; brothers, Gustavo Munoz and Armando Munoz; sisters, Anita Galan, Dora Trevino, Idala Ramirez, and Maria Torres.

The Vallado family wishes to thank Mrs. Janie Guajardo, Mrs. Maria Juliana Barrera, and all the staff at Kindred Hospice and Harlingen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their compassion and care.

Floral tributes to honor Grace are welcome or donations in her memory may be made to the scholarship fund of Olmito Community Church, P. O. Box 1205, Olmito TX 78575-1205.

The Vallado family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 6:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life service beginning at 7:00 PM at San Benito Funeral Home.  At the conclusion of the service, friends and relatives are invited to stay, visit, and reminisce.
