Gloria C. Ramos

February 2, 1928 — June 26, 2011

San Benito, TX: Gloria C. Ramos, 83, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family at her home on June 26, 2011 in San Benito, TX.

God saw you getting tired; this fight was not to be, so he sent an angel to you who whispered “Come to me” with tearful eyes and sinking hearts we watched you slowly slip away although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating; you are now at peaceful rest; God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best.

Though passed on, she will be remembered by her beloved family and friends.

After more than 20 years as an employee of San Benito School District she retired in 1989.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Reynerio Ramos (2007); her mother, Beatrice M. Cortez; two sisters, Beatrice Ritchie and Dolores Corkill; and her son-in-law, Saul Vega.

Gloria is survived by her five children, Andres Reynerio (Myra) Ramos, Linda Ramos, Diana (+Saul) Vega, Pinky (Arturo) Galvan all of San Benito; and Ramiro (Mary Alice) Ramos of Corpus Christi; a brother, Ezequiel Cortez, Jr. of San Benito; and 2 sisters, Eugenia Garcia of Waco, TX; and Alma B. Cortez of Harlingen; along with 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at San Benito Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.

As per our beloved mother’s request, pallbearers will be Ezequiel Cortez, Jr., Floyd Wilson, Matthew Ramos, Frankie Corkill, Steven Miller, and Marcus Galvan; honorary pallbearer will be Roberto Garcia, Jr. of Waco, TX.

We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Dr. Middlebrook and Dr. Luis Rodriguez of San Antonio, who treated mother with kindness and compassion; and to Dr. Oral James of Harlingen a very special” Thank You” for his continued care and genuine  concern that he provided to our mother – and for always being there for us;
and last but not least to mother’s caregiver, Christina:
Gracias por cuidar de nuestra madre con corazón y preocupación y mucha amabilidad. A menudo ella podría comentar lo maravilloso fueron y cómo te preocupa de ella. Apreciamos todo lo que hizo por nuestra madre y nunca te olvidaré para eso.

Dear Mother,
When I saw you take your last breath it was the saddest moment in my life – I don’t know how I will live without you – It has always been me and you through everything that has happened in our lives. It has been an honor and a privilege to have had you as my mother – I will miss you every day, I will always love you – and most of all I will never forget you. “Miss Ramos”.
Love you, Diana
