Gloria G. Davila

July 21, 1932 — October 31, 2013

Gloria G. Davila was born in Harlingen, Texas on July 21, 1932 and gently passed away on October 31, 2013.

She follows into glory her husband of 54 years Lamberto "Tito" Davila, her mother Ysidra Colunga Silva, her father Guadalupe Garza and her step father Abel T. Silva.

She was surrounded at the time of her passing by her sons Gilbert (Idalia), Lambert (Gloria) Jr, Albert, Duke (Lori) Davila and her only daughter Deborah Gloria (Louis) Loera. She is also survived by her sisters Ofelia "Faye" Tamez, Rosario Mejia, Connie Flores, Alma Casas, Mimie Camargo and her brother Gilbert Garza, Uncle Aurelio (Sulema) Colunga, her in-laws Carlos and Lucila Garza and 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

She lived a wonderful and full life, along with her husband they discovered that they had become rich with friends and that the most important things in life were right in their own backyard. If you went to the Davila’s at the end of a hard work week you would find "Tio Chale" sparking up the barbecue pit and "Tito" strumming his guitar and singing a song. She was a person of service. All that her family asked of her she did, and did it with pride and joy, if her husband asked, she would follow, and if he slowed down she would lead. She did all the thankless jobs that mothers do all over the world and tempered it all with a smile. Her husband showed power, she showed love, he had control, she led by example, he disciplined; she made everything come out just right. He was a water sign, she was an earth sign...together they made mud; they lived together for 54 years and loved every minute of it.

She was devoted in her faith, a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary church where she was baptized, confirmed, made her 1st communion, married, where all of her 5 children received their sacraments and where she will receive her last rites. She was strong in her faith, strong in love, strong for the family, strong until the end. Now she rests in his hands.

A special thank you goes to the wonderful treatment she received for 20 years from Dr. Todd Shenkenberg and staff. A very big thank you goes to her wonderful and devoted sister Ofelia (Faye) Tamez.

These special gentlemen, Leo (Nelo) Muniz, Roland Mendiondo, Oscar (Oak) Tamez, Javier Salazar, Paul Mascio and Louis Loera will proudly carry her casket.

Honorary pallbearers are the past members of the Pan American Golf Association Ladies Auxiliary, members of her Tuesday group, sewing and crafts group, members of her rosary group for schoenstatt and all her wonderful comadres from here and mexico (las chapanecas).

A viewing at 4pm and rosary at 7pm will be held on Sunday November 3rd.  Funeral Mass will follow on Monday the 4th at 10am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with interment at Mont Meta Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of San Benito Funeral Home, San Benito, TX (956) 361-9192.
