Virginia Eubanks Payne, lovingly known as Gina, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at her residence.
Gina was born September 15, 1954 in Santa Rosa, Texas to James E. and Virginia Eubanks. She graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1972 and spent her entire life in the Rio Grande Valley. She worked for Southwestern Bell from 1974 until 1988, when her father asked her to come and work as bookkeeper for the family business, Eubanks Farms. Upon her father’s retirement she too retired and soon after moved to her most favorite place in the world, South Padre Island. Gina had several part time jobs at the island, but her main passions were her many friends and her dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law Kenneth Milam.
Gina is survived by her sister, Elayne Milam Mattar and husband Mike; her brother, George Eubanks; her nephews, Mark Milam and wife Veronica, Matthew Milam and wife Kari, Davis Eubanks and Colin Eubanks; her nieces Misty Milam Scott and husband Jeff, and Michelle Mattar; three great nephews and her beloved step-children, Austin Payne and Crystal Hughes.
Visitation hours will be on Sunday, February 13, 2011 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held Monday, February 14, 2011, 11 a.m., at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas with Rev. Scott Brown officiating.
