Harlingen:
Gerry A. Sweet, 72, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
Gerry was born on October 23, 1937 in Colorado City, Texas to Mardel and Geraldine Feaster. She was a former resident of Irving, Texas before moving to Harlingen in 1991.
Gerry had a passion for volunteer work and fulfilled that passion with the VBMC Auxilliary at Valley Baptist Medical Center. She was a member of the VBMC Auxillary from 1989 to 2004 accumulating over 3500 hours of service and was a former Past President.
Gerry was also member of the First Baptist Church in Harlingen where she also volunteered her time with the Church Library.
Survivors include her husband, R.G. Sweet of Harlingen; children, Leslie Ellen and Juan Torres of San Antonio, TX, Rama Gene and Jill Sweet of Irving, TX, Kevin Jon and Virginia Sweet of Donna, TX; sisters, Brenda and Richard Moseley of Houston, TX and Jimmie Lou and Ronnie Forbes of South Fork, CO; brother, Kenneth Feaster of Lewisville, TX; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Harlingen, 10:30 A.M., Monday, February15, 2010.
The family request that those desiring to do so may make memorial donations to the First Baptist Church, 501 E. Van Buren, Harlingen, TX 78550 or to Valley Baptist Medical Center, 2101 Pease St., Harlingen, TX 78550.
Gerry will be remembered by her family as a loving wife and mom and especially for being a good listener.
