San Benito: Gerald B. Stuart entered into eternal rest on March 28, 2016 at Harlingen, TX. Mr. Stuart was born March 20, 1937 in Maud, Oklahoma to Roosevelt Stuart and Lena Jeffers Stuart. Gerald graduated from Midwest City High School in 1956. After graduation Gerald attended Central State College in Edmond. OK.
Mr. Stuart joined the US Air Force Reserves in 1959, being called to active duty during the Cuban crisis in 1961. Gerald was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, OK
Mr. Stuart worked in manufactured housing sales and management in Oklahoma and Texas. Stuart moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 1996 to manage LUV Manufactured Home Sales in La Feria for the Clayton Homes Corporation. Mr. Stuart was employed with Clayton through December 2009.
Golfing was a favorite hobby for Mr. Stuart and he continued to enjoy playing the game until he became ill in early January.
Gerald attended the Assembly of God Church.
Mr. Stuart is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of the San Benito home;
Daughters – LeaBeth Heltcel of Tecumseh, OK and Kathy Mitchell of Edmond, OK.
StepSon / StepDaughter – Steve Shaw of Harlingen, TX; Stephanie Stringer of Meeker, OK
Grandchildren: Blake Hutsenpillar of Okla. City, OK; Marrah Hutsenpillar of Tecumseh, OK; Guy Mitchell of Edmond, OK; Gabe Heltcel of Tecumseh, OK.
Step-Grandchildren: Amber Stringer of Meeker, Ok; Laci Shaw of Denver, CO; Kolton, Callie and Courtney Shaw of Memphis, TN.
Brother/Sister-in-law: Rev. Robert L. Stuart and Darlene of Guthrie, OK
Number of nephews, nieces and cousins.
A memorial gathering will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, March 31, 2016 with the family present.
Memorial graveside services will be held at the Rio Grande Valley State Cemetery, 2:00 PM, Friday, April 1, 2016 with Full Military Honors.
Those desiring to do so may make memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
