George W. Adams, 86, born September 29, 1926, passed away August 5, 2013. He was a life-long resident of the Valley.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma F. Adams, second wife, Lela Adams; brother Robert Adams, and children, Terry F. Ricks and Steven Q. Adams.
George is survived by his children, David L. Adams, Janice K. Stark, Gwen Newman; sons-in-law, Wayne Stark, Mark Newman, Marvin Ricks; daughters-in-law Nancy and Bonnie Adams; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and step-children, Charles Jones and Kitty Joe Ogg.
George proudly served during World War II in the U.S. Navy and was an accomplished welder and retired from Brown & Root as a Welder Forman. As a young man he worked with his father Carlos Adams on the Temple Dredge Boat that dredged the Arroyo Colorado. A replica of the Temple Dredge Boat that George and his father crafted is on display at the Heritage Art Museum located in Harlingen.
Graveside services will be held Friday, August 9, 2013 at Restlawn Memorial Park at 10:00 a.m.
