Genoveva Loera Cisneros, 91, peacefully passed away on October 7, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. She was born January 8, 1931 in Los Fresnos, Texas to Octaviano Loera and Manuela Garza.
She married Julio Cisneros on August 27, 1949 and they had four children before his passing. Genoveva was widowed at a young age. She played the role of mother and father and, despite her disabilities and struggles, she always provided a loving and warm home for her children. She was a wonderful loving person and always had a smile on her face. Genoveva never remarried after the death of her husband, Julio Cisneros, who predeceased her by sixty-four years. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Octaviano and Manuela Loera; her brothers, Raul, Graciano, Reymundo, Lucio, Rafael, and Pedro Loera; and her sister, Guadalupe Jaramillo.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Julio (Lupe) Cisneros Jr., Carmen Zamarripa (Jim Cain), Jesus (Janell) Cisneros, and Rosemary (David) Perez; twelve grandchildren, Melissa Strathman, Emilie Haines, Julie McClung, Joshua Cisneros, Genoveva Raquel Arnold, Julio Zamarripa, Mike Cisneros, Lisa Amaya, Lori Fernandez, Jacqueline Rhone, Alfia Perez Alaniz, and Davina Perez Jauregui; twenty-five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters, Adela Garza, Felipa Loera, and Consuelo Torrez.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin Tuesday evening at 7 o’clock. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Universe Catholic Church in San Benito. Following the Mass, Genoveva will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Chapel of Peace in San Benito.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Julio Cisneros Jr., Joshua Cisneros, Jesus Cisneros, Mike Cisneros, Julio Zamarripa, and David Perez.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Abundant Life Home Health, Kindred Hospice and Vanessa Valdez for their care and support as well as her caregivers.
