Fructuoso De La Cruz

Fructuoso De La Cruz, 79, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2024 in Harlingen, Texas.  He was born to the late Aniceto and Francisca Garcia De La Cruz on August 3, 1944 in Rancho San Joaquin, Mexico.

Fructuoso worked and retired from the agriculture industry.  He was of the Catholic faith and a faithful member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church.

In his leisure time Fructuoso enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening and playing Loteria.

He was preceded in death by his parents Aniceto and Francisca De La Cruz; his siblings, Ramiro De La Cruz, Francisca De La Cruz Olivares, Flora De La Cruz Benavidez, and Fidelfa De La Cruz; his grandson, Gilberto Gerardo Cepeda; and his great grandson, Adam Treviño Jr.

Left to treasure Fructuoso’s memory is his wife, Teresa Malagon De La Cruz; his children, Juana Cepeda (Homero †), Benito De La Cruz (Rosa), Leticia Rodriguez (Carlos), Marisela Alaniz (Armando), Araceli Sandoval (Alberto), Velia Estrella (Mike), Fructuoso De La Cruz Jr., (Ana), Roger De La Cruz (Espie) and Yesmin De La Cruz (Joe Herrera); 36 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and his brothers, Aniceto De La Cruz, Benito De La Cruz, Gilberto De La Cruz and Jesus De La Cruz.

The De La Cruz family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.  A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock Thursday evening.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church.  Following the Mass, Fructuoso will be laid to rest at Esparza Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Carlos Cepeda, Benito De La Cruz Jr., Carlos Rodriguez Jr., Armando Alaniz, Edward Treviño, Anthony De La Cruz, Roger De La Cruz Jr., and Angel Herrera.  Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Cepeda, Jonathan Rodriguez, Randy Herrera, Adan Treviño, Ricky Treviño, Mark Cepeda, Joey Gonzalez, and Frank De La Cruz.
