Freda Bell Evans Affolter, 99, passed away, Friday, October 5, 2012.
She was born in Ohio on October 10, 1912 to George and Martha Evans. She married the love of her life, Paul Affolter, in 1934. They were married for 64 years till his death in 1998.
In her teens she played piano in a dance band and at the Rio Hondo Community Church. For years, she played every Mother’s Day at the church. Freda and Paul lived life to the fullest. They traveled to places such as the Amazon, Russia, Alaska and Europe. She could out hunt or fish anyone. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by parents and brother, Ersell Evans.
She is survived by her children: Katherine (Walter) Wizorek, Terry (Louise) Affolter, Jimmy (Lola) Affolter and Dorothy Ann McEowen; 13 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren and 1 great nephew.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 7 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft in Harlingen, TX.
Graveside services will be Monday, October 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park with a memorial service celebrating Freda’s life to follow at the Rio Hondo Community Church at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be her great grandsons and great granddaughters.
The family would like to thank Virginia, Linda and Rosa who thru the years have been Freda’s caretakers and companions.
