Frank Shield, 84 passed away Wednesday night with his family at his side.
Frank was born on September 9, 1924 in Graham, Texas to Frank Shield and Hortense Shield. Frank went to college at Texas Tec where he met his bride, Mary Lou of 57 years. She preceded him in death July 4th 2006. Dad was a devoted father to their two sons, Gary and Frank “Skipper” Ford Shield III (11/18/87).
Frank was an active member of Grace Point Fellowship Church in Harlingen. He was a member of the Harlingen Country Club for over 30 year. He had a great life and retired at 45 to enjoy his passions for golf, tennis and fishing. He traveled around the world with his wife Lou. They lived life to the fullest.
Frank is survived by his son Gary Shield and his wife Cheryl of Harlingen. Frank had 4 grandchildren, Laura Stein, Annie Allen, Brian Shield and Tyler Shield, and his great grandchildren are Tanner Stein, Gracie Stein, Zane Allen and Taylor Allen.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held Sunday May 24th at 5:00PM at Grace Point Fellowship (Word of God) 2601 Bothwell Road, Harlingen, TX 78552 (956) 425-6794. This is across (west) from Harlingen South High School
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Fathers House (mission outreach for orphans, abandoned children’s, homeless and neglected in the Philippines. 956-245-1774.
