Frank A. Kavanagh, Jr. passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Antigo, Wisconsin on July 16, 1946.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank A., Sr. and Beryl Kavanagh, and brother, William H. J. Kavanagh.
He is survived by his wife Donna; daughters Colleen Cockrum (Jeremy), Katie Kavanagh, Jamie Hons (Chris); step-daughters Jill Sharp and Sara Winningham (Joe); and granddaughters Peyton Sharp and Paige McCleary.  Also surviving are sisters Judi Olk of Wilmette, Illinois and Joan Carney (Jim) of McHenry, Illinois.
Frank graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Accounting.  Immediately after graduation, he joined the Army and successfully completed the Engineer Officer Candidate Regiment in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.  He reached the rank of First Lieutenant before being honorably discharged in 1970.  .
After working in a family business for one year, Frank attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin with an MBA in Finance.  He then pursued a career in banking with Old Kent Bank and Trust located in Grand Rapids, Michigan as a Credit Analyst.
Frank moved to Harlingen, Texas in 1983 to work for InterFirst Bank.  He spent the last sixteen years of his career with Texas State Bank until his retirement on November 30, 2003.  He was honored to be an Advisory Director of Texas Regional Bancshares, Inc. and a member of the Board of Directors of Texas State Bank.
Serving as pallbearers are Jeremy Cockrum, Chris Hons, Dennis Mills, Trainor Evans, Frank Davis and Gene Estilette.  Honorary pallbearers include Sam Sparks, John Phillips, Roger Jeffcoat, Fred Traylor, Jim Cason and Yogi Laham.
The family wishes to offer special thanks to the many friends, family members and faithful healthcare providers who provided support and love throughout his life.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Harlingen with Pastor Aaron Saenz.  Internment will follow at the Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
