Frank L. Hughes, 93, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 in Harlingen, Texas.
Frank was born on August 6, 1924 in Mirando City, Texas to Frank and Pearl Hughes. He graduated from Freer High School in 1941. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII aboard the USS Mississippi from 1943-1945. After leaving the military Frank returned to Freer, Texas where he was employed by Humble Oil & Refining Company (ExxonMobil). During his employment with ExxonMobil he was transferred to Kingsville, Texas, and later to Grand Isle, Louisiana. (Lafayette, LA.)
Upon his retirement from ExxonMobil, Frank and his wife Lucille moved to Harlingen, TX. During his retirement he enjoyed playing golf, gardening, and travel.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Pearl Hughes, his wife of 63 years Lucille (Pruitt) Hughes, two brothers Warren Hughes, and J.B. Hughes, and two sisters June Mosley and Judy Hoelscher.
Frank is survived by his sister Joe Ann Day of Houston; son, Dennis (Linda) Hughes of Houston, and grandchildren, Stephanie Hughes of Austin, Texas, Spencer Hughes and Shelby Hughes of Houston, Texas; son, Stephen (Debra) Hughes of Corpus Christi, and grandchildren Jennifer (Josh) Borderud of Waco, Texas and Adam Hughes of Corpus Christi and two great grandchildren, R.C. Borderud and Lillian Lucille Borderud of Waco, Texas; son, David (Sherry) Hughes of Frisco, Texas.
A gathering of family will be held at a later date.
