Francisco Loya, age 79, peacefully passed on March 23, 2025, in San Benito, Texas.
He was born to Luciano Loya and Luisa Castro Loya on January 29, 1946, in Brownsville, Texas.
Francisco graduated from Brownsville High School. He went on to serve on active duty in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant (E7).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luciano and Luisa C. Loya; his brother, George C. Loya; Maria Hutchinson Loya, Juanita Longoria Loya, and his granddaughter, Jessica Ashley Parker.
Left to cherish Francisco’s memory is his wife, Olga Carrizales Loya; his daughters, Maria Luisa Morgan and Laura Loya; grandchildren, Juan Francisco Vega, Stephanie Leigh Parker, Taylor McKinley Morgan, Angelique Felis McClellan, Christopher Michael Loya, and Joaquin Edward Sherwin; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Josephina L. Collazo, his brother-in-law, Hector Collazo and extended family, including nephews, nieces, stepchildren, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
The Loya family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin Sunday evening at 7 o’clock in the funeral home chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito. Following the Mass, Francisco will be laid to rest with full military honors at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
