Francisca “Frances” G. De La Rosa left this world to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on February 5, 2022, at age 87, after a courageous battle with cancer and Alzheimer's. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.
She was born in San Benito, TX, on January 8, 1935, to the late Leopoldo and Irene Guerra. Her parents, Leopoldo and Irene; her sisters, Marina Longoria and Modesta Martinez; and her brothers, Refugio Guerra, Gregorio Martinez, and Juan Rodriguez preceded Frances in death.
Frances was raised in Lozano, TX, sharing enlightening memories of small-town living. She graduated from Texas Southmost College and began her career at the State of Texas Adoption Center. Frances was a faithful servant of the Lord and took it to heart, making sure every child that crossed her path felt loved.
Her love story of 65 years began when Frances agreed to go on a date with Serapio De La Rosa Sr. on July 4, 1956. They quickly fell in love and were married in December that same year. Together, they built their family business, De La Rosa Drive-In Grocery in San Benito. Frances always enjoyed the company of her customers.
After 37 years of working, Frances and Serapio retired in Arroyo City, where she cherished God’s creation of nature. She was an inspiring godly woman who shared His word with love and grace. She prayed boldly with faith; all those that came across her could see His love. She was fond of reading, writing, cooking, telling jokes, creating memories, dancing, and being compassionate to all animals. She was an earthbound angel with devotion to her family.
Frances’ legacy lives on in the caring nature of those who survive her, her soulmate husband Serapio De La Rosa, and her adoring children, Serapio “Bobby” (Patricia) De La Rosa, Jr., David R. (Diane) De La Rosa, Linda Ann De La Rosa, and Mary Alice (Benjamin) De La Rosa-Pena. She wholeheartedly loved her grandchildren, Stephanie (David), Krista (Ryan), Sasha (Freddy), Tessa (Joe), Sarah, David Jr, Maegan, Ben Jr. (Lila), Dylan, Sarah Jessica, Julia, and Malachi. She also leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her faithful dog Sofia.
A special thank you to the caring staff of Valley Cancer Associates.
