Francisca C. Ortiz

Francisca C. Ortiz was born on September 16, 1929 to Juan H. Claudio and Maria M. Claudio in San Benito, Texas.  She was greeted by her Maker and loved ones on Saturday, November 21, 2020. Francisca was a devout Catholic and the foundation of her family.  She had a strong work ethic that started when she worked in the fields, worked for H-E-B Canning, continued at Reef Industries, and then at San Benito CISD, where she was a valued employee for 16 years until her retirement.

Francisca is proceeded in death by her husband, Juan José; her son, Ricardo, parents, Juan H. and María M. Claudio; and brothers, Encarnación, Ramón, Ruperto, and Teodoro Claudio.

Left to treasure Francisca’s memory are her sons, Ismael “Chris” Ortiz (Velma Martinez), Larry D. (Carmen) Folkner; her daughter, Juanita (José) Casas; grandchildren, Crystal Ortiz (Miguel Reyes), April Ortiz, Jo Ann (Dwayne) Lynch, Amanda Ortiz, Melanie Rai Ortiz, Rebecca (Allan) Slater, Cecilia Casas, Sabrina Casas, Lorania Casas, Sarah Folkner, and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Juan Genaro Claudio; sisters, Rosa Noriega, Raquel Claudio, and Lupita Claudio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Francisca’s family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home. A graveside service and interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are John Claudio, Eddie Flores, Dwayne Lynch, Jr., Victor Noriega, Alex Puente, and Miguel Reyes.  Honorary pallbearers will be Francisca’s son, Ismael “Chris” Ortiz, and great-grandsons, Ryan Anthony and Ricardo Ismael Gonzalez.
