Francisca Perea Huerta

October 10, 1929 — December 16, 2017

Our Mom, Francisca Perea Huerta, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas after a short hospital stay and a courageous battle against the effects of a sudden major stroke.  Mom was a beautiful, independent and deeply religious lady.  Because of her deep religious beliefs, she knew that one day our Lord Jesus Christ would call for her.  She was spiritually prepared to meet her Lord and now she is basking in the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Francisca was born on October 10, 1929 in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Pedro Perea and Canuta Huerta, both deceased.  She immigrated to the United States in 1958 and settled in San Benito, Texas.  She was employed by Trade Winds Company in Brownsville, Texas followed by employment with Levi Strauss & Company in San Benito, Texas, and retired in 1995.

She was preceded in death by her Mother, Canuta Huerta and a nephew, Mario Perea.

Francisca is survived by her daughter, Marta Linda Fernandez (Ramon Jr.), a granddaughter, Lizandra Elize Valdez, both from Brownsville, Texas, one brother, Jorge (Titio) Perea from San Benito Texas, and two sisters, Rosa (Titia) Perea from San Benito, Texas and Dora Perea from Cadereyta, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Francisca, Pancha as she was affectionately called, was a devoted mother, loving sister and loyal friend.  With her traditional Hispanic upbringing, she had her own original and unique Spanish sayings for all of life’s ups and downs.

She was part of the Perea Family, that includes fourteen nephews and nieces, and many grandnephews and grandnieces.  She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

She was a devout member of the Pentecostal church, attending the Centro De Alabanza Y Poder Church in San Benito, Texas.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to San Benito Funeral Home with interment at Mont Meta Memorial Park.  For details please visit the funeral home website at www.sanbenitofuneralhome.com.

Pallbearers carrying Mom to her final resting place will be Jose Perea, Cesar Perea, Jorge Perea, Daniel Perea, Ray Adame and Rick Vasquez.  Honorary pallbearers will be Hugo Perea, Juan Perea and Fernando Sanchez.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen, particularly, the Emergency Room, Comfort Care and Hospice Care units for their special care and attention to our Mother’s needs.
