Francis E. Corbie, 87, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at his residence in Harlingen.  Francis was born on July 8, 1924 in Trinidad, West Indies to Norman and Hilda Corbie.
Francis lived fully every minute of his 87 years and 10 months.  He, with the assistance of his provider, Felice Ybarra, cooked his meals daily and added new plants to his garden.  Felice became family and he taught her to prepare his West Indian dishes and then they sat down and enjoyed the meals together.  His passionate interests were sports especially European football and cricket and his music.
Francis was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Harlingen, where Msgr. Pedor Briseno was a friend as well as his spiritual director.  They met 2 to 3 times a month for Reconciliation and to receive the Eucharist.  They shared many interest and Francis looked forward to these visits.
He is survived by a son, Dexter Martin Corbie; daughter, Rise Corbie Hawkins; brothers, Valmond (Aileen) Corbie, Theldon (Elmira) Corbie and Leroy Corbie; sister, Deanna Corbie; grandsons, Elisha Hawkins and Isadore Hawkins; grand-daughter, Ojer Corbie; seven nephews, seven nieces and numerous grandnieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 Pm to 9:00 PM, Thursday, May 17, 2012 with a Rosary being held at 7:00 PM at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 10:00 AM, Friday, May 18, 2012.  Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
