Frances Grimes Waters, 79, passed away November 28, 2013 in Harlingen, TX.
Frances was born October 10, 1934 in Merkel, TX to Emmett and Madie Grimes. She attended Southwestern University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and then received her Master’s in Education from UT-Pan American. Frances married William Burton Green III and they were married for 40 wonderful years. She later married Walt Waters and they were married for 10 years.
Frances had a passion for children and education. She taught one year in Mercedes and 38 years in La Feria. She was also the Curriculum Director and an Elementary School Principal for three years. Frances was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma, was twice past president of Sorosis Literary Club and a member of the First United Methodist Church of La Feria. She had a love of travel and visited many countries all over the world! She also enjoyed the beach and spent years of summers at South Padre Island.
Frances is survived by sons, Billy (Stephanie) Green, Jimmy (Zona) Green and Thomas Green; grandchildren, Jaime Green, Will and Ashley Green, Thomas (Jenny) Miner, Monica Dyer; and numerous great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Madie Cooper and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Madie Grimes; husband, William B. Green III and husband, Walt Waters.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 2, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in La Feria with Pastor Herald Dailey officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria.
