Combes, TX:
Frances Genevie Jordan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter and sister, passed away at Valley Baptist Medical Center on January 17th, 2014 at the age of 86.
Frances was born February 3rd, 1927 in Harlingen, TX to LeeRoy and Mamie Kilbourn and was the eldest of two siblings, with a younger brother David Kilbourn.
She grew up in the Combes-Harlingen area and graduated from Harlingen High in 1945. Shortly after graduation she met her husband Howard Jordan and the couple after graduation she met her husband Howard Jordan and the couple married on May 31st, 1946. The couple lived in the Combes-Harlingen area for the next decade. In 1955 her husband entered Air Force, and in 1958 they had their first child a son Troy Howard, then in 1959 there second child a daughter Peggy Ann. The family spent the next 20 years stationed with the Air Force in five different locations from Washington D.C. to the far west coast of California. In 1975 the family moved back to the Combes-Harlingen area after retiring from the Air Force with 20 years of service. Frances lived in Combes community the rest of her life.
Frances had a lifelong membership with her church, First Baptist Church of Combes, were she taught Sunday School and served as church Historian and many other duties throughout her many years of membership. Upon her death she held the longest membership in her church. She also served the Combes Township and was elected Alderwoman for 8 years. Due to health conditions she had to drop her Alderwoman service.
Frances will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter and sister, as well as a friend to many. She will be missed by those who knew her and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Howard Jordan; her father LeeRoy Kilbourn; her mother, Mamie Kilbourn; daughter-in-law, Rosie Jordan; nephew, Dave Jordan.
Frances is survived by her two children, son Troy Jordan and daughter, Peggy Jordan; brother, David Kilbourn; grandson, Javier Herrera; four great grandchildren; and five nephews, Mark Jordan Schindler, Don Jordan, Phil Jordan, Joe David Kilbourn, Weldon Matlock. She has three nieces, Tammy Kilbourn McCantes, Heidi Manke and Melody Matlock.
Visitation will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Monday, January 20th, 2014 from 12 pm to 8 pm with the family present from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Services will be presided by Reverend Steve Wiest on Tuesday, January 21st, 2014 at 10:30 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Combes. Burial will follow at Combes Cemetery.
