Forrest Moore Peek went home to his Lord Wednesday, March 7, 2007. Forrest was born on April 24, 1914, the first child of John Porter and Lucile Peek in Rosebud, Texas.
In 1926, Forrest’s family packed all their belongings in a Model “T” and moved to the Valley from Texarkana, Texas.
Forrest married Barbara Temperance Hale, March 31, 1934, in Oakhurst, Texas. They celebrated 71 years of marriage.
Forrest had several professions and was an avid hunter and fisherman. After retirement, he enjoyed his garden and playing “42” with friends and family.
Forrest is survived by his children Shirley (Alfred) Collins of Seattle, Washington; John (Linda) Peek of Houston, Texas; Susan (Mike) Davis of Harlingen, Texas; his four grandchildren, John Peek Jr. (Deana) of Houston; Michael Davis Jr. (Melissa) of Harlingen; Susie Peek Clarke (Ray) of San Antonio; Preston Davis (Tiffany ) of New Braunfels; four great grandchildren, Trey and Justin Davis of Harlingen; Trey Peek of Houston, and Tate Davis of New Braunfels as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara and his third child, L. Patrick Peek, parents John Porter and Lucile Peek and sisters, Frances Zenker and Nancy Gray.
A celebration of his life will be held in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church Harlingen, Saturday, March 10th, at 4:00 pm. with interment following at Mont Meta Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home on Friday from 12:00 to 9:00 pm with family being present from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
Pallbearers are Michael Davis, Jr., Preston Davis, Tim Conway, John Conway, John Abbott and Barry Booth. Honorary Pallbearer is
Fran Schinner.
