Florida (Ida) Geneva Garza

August 13, 1943 — December 25, 2021

Ida Garza 78 passed away on December 25, 2021 in Lubbock, Texas.  Ida was born in Salt Lake, Utah on August 13, 1943 to Joe and Mildred Noriega Martinez.

She enjoyed crafting, collecting butterfly and peacock figurines. Ida was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramiro “Red” Garza; parents, Joe and Mildred Martinez; and her brother Rudy Martinez.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Juanita Vasquez (Joe), Ramiro Garza Jr., Rudy Garza (Alicia) and Randy Garza (Paula); grandchildren, Alphie Villegas III, Bobby Joe Vasquez, Edward Matthew Vasquez, Elizabeth Jane Vasquez, Christy Lee Harrelson, Christian Giovanni Garza, Rudy Garza Jr., Dominic Garza and Aaron Ross Garza; and 19 great grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Abie Martinez.

Ida’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, January 2, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home.  A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 3, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Los Fresnos.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Alphie Villegas III, Bobby Joe Vasquez, Edward Matthew Vasquez, Elizabeth Jane Vasquez, Rudy Garza Jr., Dominic Garza, Aaron Ross Garza and Christian Giovanni Garza.  Honorary pallbearer is Christy Lee Harrelson.
