Florence Mary Campbell, 84, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, was called home on Sunday, January 10, 2010. She was born March 8, 1925, to Robert and Esther Wright of Salix, Iowa.
She grew up in Salix, where she learned to love the outdoors, animals, and farming. She graduated from Salix High School and attended Wayne State College in Wayne, NE and Colorado State Teacher’s College in Ft. Collins, CO, where she earned a teaching degree in PE. While in Colorado, she met George Fleming Campbell, a successful farmer from Eaton, CO. They were married for 62 years. They enjoyed farming together for many years in Eaton, Osage, Iowa, and Salix, Iowa before retiring in 1992 to Harlingen, TX.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, George Campbell of the home; her two daughters and their husbands, Sue and Bill Daily of Mishawaka, IN and Cindy and Roland Weber of Springdale, AR; her six grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Josh Johnson of IN, John and Katy Cobb of OH, Beth and Daniel Aguirre of IN, Steven and Mariah Weber of NC, Scott and Heide Weber of HI, and Robert Weber of AR; her great grandchildren, Lily, Timothy, and William Johnson, and Braden and Brooke Weber. She is, also, survived by her sister and her husband, Dorothy and Al Boysen of Wapello, IA and their children Rob Boysen and Karen Rowe; many cousins and numerous friends she picked up along the “road of life.” She was lovingly cared for during the last years of her life by Nora Zavala and others for whom the family is deeply grateful.
A celebration of Florence Campbell’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at 10:00 AM at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen, TX with Rev. Stephen Wiest and Rev. Wally Morillo officiating.
