Flora Galindo Castañeda of Raymondville, Texas went to be with our Lord on Monday, December 19, 2022. Flora died peacefully at the age of 92. She lived a long beautiful life.
Flora was born November 24, 1930 to the late Guadalupe and Micaela Galindo in San Perlita, Texas. She married Roy Castañeda on August 15, 1958.
Roy and Flora began their lives together in Mercedes, Texas. They later moved to Raymondville after the birth of their two daughters, Pamela and Katherine Castañeda.
Flora was a graduate of Pan American University in Edinburg where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She pursued her professional career with Raymondville Independent School District as an elementary school teacher at L.C. Smith Elementary. She loved teaching and enjoyed her career for thirty-eight years.
Flora is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Castañeda, who passed December 24, 1988. Left to cherish her memory and legacy are her daughters, Pamela Castañeda Leverett of Harlingen, Texas and Kathy Castañeda Ochoa (Noe) of San Antonio, Texas; her granddaughters, Annika Daniel (Eli) of Keller, Texas and Anissa Hamilton (Gary) of Harlingen, Texas; and three great grandchildren, Elian (10), Karina (6), and Daniel and Jack Hamilton (8 months).
Flora is preceded in death by two siblings, Hector Galindo, Sr. of Raymondville, Texas and Rebecca Delgado of Grand Prairie, Texas. She is survived by two brother, Delfino Galindo of Grand Prarie, Texas, and Domingo Galindo of Corpus Christi, Texas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Raymondville, Texas. Following the Mass, Flora will be laid to rest at Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Castañeda family wishes to thank Anderson’s Personal Care Home of Harlingen, Texas and Bee First Hospice Healthcare for the wonderful care they provided.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) are appreciated.
