Felipe B. Gonzalez

May 1, 1932 — January 12, 2022

Felipe Barron Gonzalez, 89, of San Benito, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. A lifelong resident of San Benito and La Paloma, Felipe was a U.S. Army veteran who fought valiantly for his country in the Korean War. He was a loyal parishioner of Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Amelia A. Gonzalez; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Antonio Gonzalez; and brother, Guillermo Gonzalez.

Felipe is survived by his children, Nancy G. Garcia and David A. (Maria) Gonzales. Also left to treasure his memory are his grandchildren, David Eric (Yvette) Garcia, Phillip D. (Nga) Gonzales and Jennifer M. (Jorge) Gonzales; great-grandson, Dallas Eli Garcia; sister, Emilia Gonzalez; along with much loved in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He had a passion for hard work and retired from Schaefer Stevedoring as a Diesel Mechanic; a profession he held for over 30 years. In his retirement, he continued his passion for hard work, diligently maintaining his vehicles, home, yard and garden. Felipe lived by the motto “You Do The Best You Can With What You Have”. There was no greater example of love, loyalty and strength than him and he showed his family how to do so with dignity and understanding.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 14, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Our Lady Queen of the Universe. Following the Mass, Felipe will be laid to rest with full military honors at Mont Meta Chapel of Peace Mausoleum.
