Fela Garza

Fela Garza, 102, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024 in Harlingen, Texas. She was born on April 26, 1922 in San Benito, Texas to Apolinar Garza and Maria Hinojosa Garza.

 Fela was a devoted member of Faith Christian Church in Harlingen and received her water baptism in November of 2008. She found joy in embroidery and was known for her delicious homemade flour tortillas.

 She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Mary Garza and Antonia Villanueva; her brothers, Fred Garza, Paul Garza and Ben Garza; and her chihuahua, Kati.

 Left to cherish Fela’s memory are her children: Ana Garza, Jane Stork, and Hector Garza; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

 The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Logans, Texas Roadhouse, Arby's, IHop for their consistent love and respect towards Fela. A special acknowledgment goes to Jose and Erica from HEB on Commerce for providing her birthday cakes; Caleb the pharmacist and the staff at HEB on Morgan for their unwavering support; Patty in Connection at HEB on Commerce; Luz Elizarde and the caring staff at Valley View; and finally Pastor Mark Coppins, Dick and Judy Ross, Sally Montgomery, Bridgette, and Fela's church family for their prayers.

The Garza family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Christian Church in Harlingen. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Brian Stork, Pablo Martinez, Michael Keyes, Laura Garza, Dick Ross, and Michael Gomez.
