Federico Avila

Federico Avila, of Harlingen, Texas, went Home to his Savior and Lord on March 6, 2018 at the age of 43.  He was born in Harlingen on April 28, 1974 to Juan Avila and Maria Elena Cortez Avila.  He was employed by Baptist Child and Family Services (BCFS).

Federico was a loving husband, father, brother, and the best friend anyone could ever wish for.  He was a gentle giant with a heart of gold and a great man of God.  He always brought joy to all those around him with his jokes and his smile.  He always gave an encouraging word to everyone who needed it and a helping hand even when he was tired.  There will never be anyone like him and he will be extremely missed, but never forgotten.

Federico was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Maria Elena Avila.

Left to treasure his memory and carry on his legacy are his wife, Blanca Avila; children, Brandon Fred Avila, Sheila Tricia Avila, Ethan Isaiah Avila, Zoey Lynn Avila; sister, Gracie Avila; many friends and his Overcomers Academy church family.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home.  Visitation will continue on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.  at San Benito Funeral Home.  On Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 9:30 a.m., a Homegoing Service will be celebrated at Overcomers Academy, 9302 W. Expwy 83 in Harlingen.  Following the service, Federico’s body will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Federico’s sons, Brandon and Ethan Avila; best friend, Jerry Flores; Jerry’s sons, Malachi and Zach Flores; brother-in-law, Ramon Ibarra, Jr.; cousin, Santos Liscano; friend, Ovil Ortiz.
