Evaristo García peacefully passed into eternal life on June 10, 2021 at the age of 93. He was born on January 4, 1928 to the late Elías García and Guadalupe García in San Benito/Los Indios, Texas.
As a young adult, Evaristo served in the U.S. Army during World War II attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the American Theatre Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, and a Service Stripe. Later, he was employed by the Texas Highway Department (TXDOT) from which he retired after 30 years of dedicated service.
Evaristo loved giving of his time to youth by coaching Little League and as Scout Master of Troop 121. In his leisure time, he enjoyed gardening. Evaristo was a devout Christian and a longtime member of Iglesia Presbiteriana Getsemaní of San Benito. He faithfully served as the church caretaker for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Magdalena Garza; brother and sister-in-law, Elias (Eufemia) García, brother and sister-in-law, Raúl (Angelita) García; sister and brother-in-law, Olivia (Moses) García.

García, Seth E. García, Madeline G. García, Roman S. García, Mia M. Mendoza, and Lilyana L. Mendoza; sister, Raquel García. Evaristo is also survived by his pet cat, Patches, and dog, Harley.
The Garcia family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. The chapel will be available again on Thursday, July 17, 2021, beginning at 8:30 a.m., for guests to pay their respects. A funeral service will begin at 2 o’clock on Thursday afternoon in the Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home Chapel. Following the service, Evaristo will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park. The American Vietnam Veterans, Post 1 Honor Guard will render military honors.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Aaron S. García, Matt Mendoza, Ben Mendoza, Nathan García, Aaron García and Marco González. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Garza and Guadalupe González.
