Eva Pearl Crocker Ward, went peacefully to rest in the arms of her Saviour Jesus Christ, with her family around her on Sunday, August 4, 2013.
She is preceded in death by her parents Andrew Crocker and Nellie Pearson Crocker, her brother Carl Crocker (Lenore) and a sister Anne Peterson (Gaylord)
She was born in Roswell New Mexico, August 29, 1938. She graduated from Paoli Oklahoma High School. She moved to the Valley with her husband and family in 1967 to attend Rio Grande Bible Institute in preparation to serve as a missionary in Mexico. After which they lived in Dallas for a year, then moved to Harlingen. For the next 11 years the family lived in Mexico and other Valley cities. In 1980 they returned to Harlingen. She called Harlingen home for thirty-plus years.
Eva Pearl served at her husband Jess’ side as a missionary to Mexico for 17 years. She taught Sunday School, led Vacation Bible School, typed and mimeographed thousands of bible lessons and coloring sheets. She did all this while homeschooling her children while on the mission field. After moving back to Harlingen she worked as Math Department Secretary at TSTI/TSTC for 20 years until she retired in 2000. She has been a faithful member of Central Baptist Church since 1969.
Since retirement, she spent time helping with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed the time she got to spend with them. Eva Pearl loved to embroider and quilt and completed numerous special projects for her family and friends. She loved watching baseball.
She is survived by her Husband of 56 years, Jess Ward; her sister, Alice Murphy (Roger); her children, Eva Marie Clement (Bob), Carolyn Bodenhamer (Dave), Jessie Ward II, Christine Stubbs, Charles Ward (Catherine), Joseph Ward (Kim); her grandchildren: Donald Ward, Dale Ward, David Bodenhamer, Sarah Lopez (Gil), Jessie Ward III, Heather Ward, Kevin Ward (Joanna), Sharon Stubbs, Shanna Stubbs, Loree Ward, Jackie Ward, Christopher Jenkins, Courtney Conway, Scott Williams Jr., Sydney Williams, Nickie Olsen, Mariana Arnold, Kitty Staples, Amanda Plaisance, and Samantha Gillet and her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Isaac and Daniel Sanchez; Kylie and Nathan Andrew Olsen; Avery Andrew and Ashton Plaisance; Lilly Jones, Aubrey Wilkerson, Sabbath Staples, Torryn Landry, and Paul Gillet III.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 7, 12-9p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 710 Ed Carey Drive, Harlingen. Family members will be present throughout the day.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 8, 10:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church, 122 West Filmore, Harlingen. Graveside services will follow at Ashland Memorial Park in Harlingen
