SAN JOSE RANCH, TX. – Ester C. Ramirez died Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen. She was 95.
She was born on July 4, 1919 in Las Vallitas, Texas to her parents, Mateo Cortez and Maria Cruz Garcia.
Her parents; step-mother, Aurora Garcia; husband, Reynaldo Ramirez; brothers Lupe, Mateo, Jr., and Rodolfo “Yoyo” Cortez; and sister, Olivia Carriaga, precede her in death.
Survivors include her children Reynaldo, Jr. (Irma) Ramirez, Dora (Faustino) Rivas, and Vicente (Suzanne) Ramirez; grandchildren Reynaldo Ramirez, III, Roberto Ramirez, Ricardo Ramirez, Faustino H. Rivas, Vanessa Rivas-Tamez, Diana Rivas-Smith, Myra R. Fabling, Vicente Ramirez, Jr., Juan Antonio Ramirez, and Javier Ramirez; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Her brothers, Reynaldo and Ismael Cortez; and sister, Ninfa Palacios, also survive her.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 9:00 P.M. on Friday, December 19, 2014, with a recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for seven o’clock Friday evening within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at ten o’clock in the morning in Our Lady, Queen of the Universe Catholic Church. Committal services will then follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
