San Benito, TX- Ester Aguilera (Tia Tey) went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 13, 2012, at the age of 79 after a brief illness.
Ester was born to Patricio Aguilera and Paula Ledesma on March 22, 1933, in San Benito, Texas. She was a church member for over 70 years and served in numerous capacities at Primera Iglesia Bautista in San Benito. She had a beautiful soprano singing voice and she used it to give honor and glory to God. Ester was very patriotic and was fond of the stars and stripes and red, white and blue. One of her last requests was that all who were coming to pay their final respects to please wear the color red. She did not want anyone dressing entirely in black.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Patricio Aguilera and Paula Ledesma; and by her siblings, Maria del Refugio Gonzalez, Juan Aguilera, Sr., Reynaldo Aguilera, Sr., Jesus Aguilera, Sr. and Benjamin Aguilera, Sr.
Ester is survived by her two sisters, Cristina (Matias+) Quintanilla and Paula A. (Jose E.) Espinoza; her two sister-in-laws, Aurora (Reynaldo+) Aguilera and Cannie (Benjamin+) Aguilera; her 30 nieces and nephews and numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Ester was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and great aunt; she dedicated her life to caring for those she loved. She never married and did not have any children of her own, but she helped raise and care for many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
1John 3:18 – “Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth”.
Our aunt and great-aunt cared for us and loved us and she did it with actions and in truth. She was like a mother to many of us and she took that role when necessary. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at San Benito Funeral Home.
The funeral precession will depart San Benito Funeral Home on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. for a 10:00 A.M. Funeral Service at Primera Iglesia Bautista located at 501 W. Robertson in San Benito. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Pall bearers will be ten of her grand-nephews.
Ester passed away at Solara Hospital in Harlingen and we would like to take this opportunity to thank the nurses and doctors for their care and compassion during her illness.
