Emilia R. Rodriguez

San Benito, TX – Emilia R. Rodriguez, 72, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Solara Hospital, surrounded by her loving family after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on July 21, 1929 to Silvestre and Genoveva Romero in San Benito, TX., where she later married the love of her life, Juan N. Rodriguez.
Emilia had a beaming smile, a warm heart, and an engaging personality that endeared her to everyone she encountered. Throughout her life, she enjoyed singing and was a devout member of St. Theresa’s prayer group. She was a wonderful wife and mother to her husband and seven children. Although she will be deeply missed, her giving spirit will live in the hearts of all who knew her forever.
She is preceded in death by her son, Raphael; and her brother, Geronimo Romero.
Emilia is survived by her husband of 46 years, Juan N. Rodriguez; her children, Velma (Misael “Smiley”) Garcia of San Benito, Melva Rodriguez of La Feria, Juan D. Rodriguez of Elgin TX, +Raphael (Maribel) Rodriguez of McAllen, Angelica (Manuel) Sanchez of San Benito, Jaime (Tammy) Rodriguez of Harlingen, Frank (Laura) Rodriguez of San Benito, and her 15 grandchildren; also surviving her are 3 brothers, Pedro Romero of Victoria, TX, Miguel (Margarita) Romero of Bakersfield, CA, and Francisco (Esperanza) Romero of McAllen, TX; her 2 sisters, Angelita Romero and Natividad (Manuel) Sierra of San Benito; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 12 Noon to 9:00 P.M with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 P.M. at San Benito Funeral Home.
The funeral precession will depart San Benito Funeral Home on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. for a 10:00 A.M. Funeral Mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Juan D. Rodriguez, Jaime Rodriguez, Frank Rodriguez, Misael “Smiley” Garcia, Marc S. Morales, and Manuel Sanchez IV.
