Elva Guzman, 63, passed away peacefully on December 5,2024, in Harlingen, Texas. Born on September 29, 1961, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Elva lived a life marked by devotion and generosity.

A devoted housewife, Elva was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Los Indios, Texas. She was known for her warmth and kindness, qualities that touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Elva found joy in everyday activities such as cooking, cleaning, and walking, and particularly enjoyed her visits to the local pulga. At home, she cherished quiet evenings spent watching novellas with her beloved husband, creating lasting memories with her family.

Elva's home was always a welcoming place, filled with delicious meals and an atmosphere of comfort, enhanced by her beautiful smile and infectious laughter. She was known for her caring spirit and willingness to help those in need, leaving a lasting impression on all who visited.

Elva is preceded in death by her parents, Porfirio and Tomasita Sánchez; her brother, Andres Sánchez, Sr.; and her daughter, Monica Cardoza. She is survived by her loving husband, Jaime A. Guzman Sr.; her son, Jaime A. Guzman Jr. (Jennifer); her daughter, Veronica Guzman; her brother, Arturo Sánchez (Melinda); her sisters, Elsa Smithwick, Esther Urrea, Eva Gonzalez (Oscar Sr.), and Norma Ortiz; along with her grandchildren, Jamie Lee Cantu-Horne (Devon) and Justin Rodriguez, Jr. and several nieces and nephews.

The Guzman family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, December 16, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 6:00 o’clock Monday evening. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, San Benito, Texas. Services for Elva will conclude after the Mass.

Elva's spirit of love, joy, and kindness will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
