Harlingen/Lake Jackson, TX:
Elsie Marie Palmer of Lake Jackson, Texas went home to be with Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, on Monday October 15, 2007.
Elsie was born on July 17, 1933 in Santa Rosa, Texas to Ira Webster Boykin and Claudia Mae Neal. She attended Santa Rosa and Dishman Elementary Schools, and Harlingen High School before graduating from Valley Baptist School of Vocational Nursing in 1972.  Elsie’s nursing career began at Valley Baptist Hospital where she worked for many years as an ostomy nurse and later as a neuro intensive care nurse.  She retired in 2005 from Harlingen Nursing Center after devoting 32 years of her life’s ministry to the relief of pain and suffering.  She was a Nurse’s nurse to all who had the pleasure of working with her and always cared for her patients as she herself would want to be cared for, unto the Lord.  Elsie will be best remembered for her faith in God, her cheerful spirit and especially her sense of humor, but also for her kind and giving heart. She shared the joy of her salvation and never ceased to praise the Lord in all things.
Elsie was preceded in death by both parents, a son M.L. Palmer, III(Junior), and brothers J.W. Boykin of Harlingen and Roger Boykin of Wichita Falls.
She is survived by her children Donald & Leticia Palmer, and daughter Deborah Palmer of Lake Jackson , 3 grandchildren Kevin Greer of McAllen, Shawn Palmer of Keller and Sheigha Simmons of The Colony and 5 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by brother Curtis & Maxine Boykin of Dallas, brother Don Boykin of Brownsville, brother James & Anne Boykin of Elmira, NY, sister Yvonne & Dalton Willis of Kingsville, sister Iva Jo & Sterling Gray of Harlingen, brother Dennis & Patsy Boykin of Combes, sisters-in law Maxine Boykin of Wichita Falls and Pauline Boykin of Harlingen and numerous nieces and nephews.
